Hey Bratz Fans!

Alex here, and if you haven’t already heard, the first wave of Bratzillaz Switch-A-Witch is in stores now in both the United States and Canada! Of course I had to run out and grab them as soon as I heard the news. Check ’em out below!

The Bratzillaz Switch-A-Witch wave 1 double pack next to Mattel's Monster High Create-A-Monser starter pack. Click to view full-size!

First, I had to take a photo in the store of the BZ pack next to a Monster High Create-A-Monster set, and even to my surprise, they’re even more different from each other than previously though! The main similarity was the packaging, but even that’s hardly similar. Bratzillaz’ box has a more “warm”, redder color scheme, and features frames on the background, as well as a fun and curvy border on the front, keeping it in with the branding for the rest of the Bratzillaz products. Monster High went for a bright lime green background, with black rectangles corresponding to the placement of each piece. And speaking of placement, even that’s pretty different. Sure the arms are all together in both sets, but where else would they place them…? If you want to get technical, you could easily say Monster High AND Bratzillaz are copying the original “Build-A-Doll”, Betty Spaghetty! Packaging aside, the obvious difference is that the Bratzillaz double pack includes far more pieces, including not only what’s necessary to build both dolls, but to fully dress them head-to-toe as well. While the Create-A-Monster sets includes two basic dresses, one pair of shoes, one real-hair wig, and one molded-hair wig, Bratzillaz keep their witches covered in two tops, two skirts, two pairs of shoes, two saran wigs, two pairs of earrings, two bracelets, two hats, and two capes – one of which doubles as a belt! With the Bratzillaz set being $24.99, and the Monster High set at $19.99, it means you can technically get two fully-articulated, saran-haired, glass-eyes BZ dolls for $12.50 (cheaper than the basic “Core” assortment out now, which lacks articulation, saran hair, and glass eyes!) or one fully-dressed-but-not-accessorized, fully-articulated Monster High ghoul with either kenekalon or molded hair, and one without shoes for about $10 each, which is cheaper than the $14.99+ they’d force you to pay as stand-alone dolls, but still at least double what they’re worth based on quality! Just some facts for consumers to consider, now let’s get wicked! 😉

Sorry for the terrible photo, I was rushing to get them open LOL! Click to view full-size!

Here’s both sets from the first wave in their boxes! It’s a bit hard to tell, but each torso piece is actually a different mold! The leg molds are actually different on each witch too, surprisingly. Don’t worry, all three can share fashions with each other as well as with the other Bratzillaz too. Personally, I love that MGA is giving us this unexpected variety! Also, I already mentioned that the 2-pack is $24.99, but the single pack is $14.99 🙂

Here’s everything that both sets come with! The double pack includes: 2 heads, 2 torsos (with the waist joint!), 4 upper legs, 4 lower legs, 4 upper arms, 4 lower arms, 4 hands, 2 saran wigs, 2 pairs of shoes, 2 pairs of earrings, 2 bracelets, 2 hats, 2 capes (one of which doubles as a belt, as I mentioned above!), 2 tops, 2 bottoms, one brush, and instructions. Note that the background of the box makes an AMAZING backdrop for photos too!

The single pack includes: 1 head, 1 torso (with the waist joint!), 2 upper legs, 2 lower legs, 2 upper arms, 2 lower arms, 2 hands, 1 saran wig, 1 pair of shoes, 1 pair of earrings, 1 hat, 1 cape, 1 top, 1 bottom, 1 brush, and instructions.

And now that you’ve seen everything they come with, we can put them together and brew up three complete wicked glam witches!

The three combos I've made so far! Keep in mind that I used pieces from both sets, so you'd need to buy both in order to create these specifically. Click to view full-size!

Aren’t they amazing? MGA really did an outstanding job on this line. The black and white witch is so bold and edgy, and definitely not something you’d typically see on a stroll down the playline doll aisle! The witch in pink and green is another real cutie. I love her winged eye makeup, and of course that ‘fro is to die for! The single pack face is just amazing as well. When MGA does glass eyes, they do them RIGHT! She’s sporting the Bratzillaz’ world-famous glitter eyes in silver!

Here's a close-up of the black and white combination. The white lashes and RED lips are truly magical! Click to view full-size, or check her out at flickr.com/alexbabs

Those EYES! I went for a bit of a 'tween' look for her, since her body type is the least matured. Maybe she got her scholarship to the Academy early? Click to view full-size, or check her out at flickr.com/alexbabs

Here's Miss 'Fro working it! If I were to give her a magical power, I'd probably give her the ability to control emotions! Since she's a bit clown-like, I think she should make people laugh! Click to view full-size or check her out at flickr.com/alexbabs

Hey Bratz Fans & BZs!

Alex here with an exclusive first look at the latest addition to Bratzillaz Academy, sparkly sea witch Fianna Fins! A friend of ours at MGA was sweet enough to send me a sampling of this spring’s lines, and Miss Fins was included!

Image

Fianna Fins in her box! Click to view full-size

In the box, she looked just as I had expected. While I was over-the-moon to be the first person to own her, I wasn’t surprised by her appearance or anything in-box (After all, we exclusively unveiled her a while back here at BratzBoulevard.com!). I was happy to finally “get to know her” via her bio on the box though!

Image

How cute is Ripple? Despite Fianna not being in stores yet, this little guy has actually been spotted on shelves already, so keep an eye out! Click to view full-size, or check out these pix and more on my flickr!

It’s not mentioned on the back of her box, but one of Fianna’s weather-changing spells is

“Moon of night,
Wind of play,
Bratzacadabra!
Send the clouds away!”

She can be heard saying it in the Bratzillaz webisode; “Midnight Beach“.

After the obligatory boxed photo session, you can believe I practically ripped this witch out of her box! I already thought she looked simply stunning, but once she was deboxed, I had fallen full head-over-snap-on-heels in love! Just check out those eyes!

Image

As you can see, she is just breath-takingly beautiful! I love the glittery makeup all over, and again, THOSE EYES! Oh my gosh, why they would sell her with her glasses on I’ll never understand, but at least it was a wicked sweet surprise for me as I opened her up! Her glasses are a new mold, obviously fin-inspired, and her hair is 100% silky saran that goes past her knees! The front is lightly crimped, and most of the back is just straight.

Of course, I totally love her outfit too!

On top is a cute strapless top in a shimmery blue scaley print, with a coral starfish in the center. On the bottom is a long “mermaid” skirt made from the same material with the same starfish on the side of her waist. Under that is a second part to her skirt, that actually comes off and doubles as her cape! Note that her panties are actually painted in a shimmery blue too so you can remove her skirt altogether and she’ll be ready for some beach fun in a cute blue bikini! There are really quite a few fashion combinations you can make with just this one doll. I didn’t photograph all of them, but you can see them in my video review of her (and the new 2nd assortment Sashabella with saran hair!) below

So what are your thoughts on Fianna Fins? Personally, I’m loving her, and totally recommend her the the most out of the entire Midnight Beach line (which says a lot, because the line as a whole is pretty amazing!). She’s actually my current fave Bratzillaz doll! Feel free to sound off on my video review’s comments section, as well as on our official facebook page, and on twitter @BratzBoulevard!

Hey Bratz Fans!

Tonight we’re taking a small break from our usual up-to-the-minute Bratz & Bratzillaz reports to spread the word about one of MGA’s totally cosmic new lines – the Novi Stars! Novi Stars is a line based around a group of quirky teen aliens and their adventures on Earth (Think Bratz goes ET!). Our own Alex received two of the adorable martians, Mae Tallick the robot, and Una Verse the glittery glamour girl, the other day and has done a review of them on YouTube! Check it out 😀

Adrianne also picked up the other two dolls, and you can see them in her video here:

These girls are out of this world and make an awesome addition to the MGA family. They’re all in stores now, so keep an eye out and do some alien hunting! And then let us know what you think on our Novi Stars thread in the forum!

Stay Tuned & Stay Stylin’!
Bratz Boulevard

Hey Bratz fans!

Everyone’s super psyched for this fall’s Bratz lines to hit shelves this summer, and with good reason – what we’ve seen so far is H-O-T, hot! But in case you haven’t been keeping up, here’s the low-down on what to expect from the Bratz this fall.

One of the first lines you can expect is called Miss IndepenDance. Hot on the heels of this spring’s seasonal line, Heart Breakerz, comes this fierce and festive Fourth of July line, which will feature the core four girls in red, white, and blue fashions and hair streaks with matching hair extensions for you! It seems like MGA’s getting in the habit of making sizzlin’ seasonal lines out of older limited editions, which is fine by us – We’ve got our fingers crossed for a New Year’s line, MGA! 😉 No photos at this time, but we’re expecting some soon…

And the basic line for this fall will be Strut it! It will feature the core four girls, as well as the return of fan-favorite, Fianna! The new artwork posted on Bratz.com is for this line, and we’re happy to report that so far, the dolls look pretty close to their art! At the moment , we have prototype shots for Yasmin, Cloe, Sasha, and Jade, plus a final promo for Yasmin. We love how each girl’s personality is clearly represented in their outfits, while staying on-trend at the same time. Strut it! indeed 😉

L-R: Cloe, Jade, Yasmin, and Sasha. Jade and Yasmin will be very different from their prototypes, but Cloe and Sasha should be pretty close!

Here’s the final promo shot for Strut it! Yasmin. This is what the doll will look like on store shelves 🙂

What is expected to be one of the hottest and most scandalously stylin’ lines this fall is Biker Babez. While not many specifics are known about this line as of yet, toy fair reports say the line will feature the Bratz (Though which Bratz are included is unknown, one would assume the core four are included – We’d love to see the Bratz Pack’s resident bad boy Cade too!) in hot leather fashions and (get ready for this one) tattoos! Each doll will also include a tattoo sleeve for you so can join the Bratz in their speed-demon fun! No photos at this time though.

One of the bigger lines for this fall is called Bratz Boutique. As the title suggests, the theme of the line is shopping! Surprisingly, this is actually the very first shopping line that the Bratz have ever had! This line includes the core four – each dressed to impress in cool casual fashions that show off each girl’s unique style and attitude, along with a fully-stocked store full of shopping accessories! As to be expected, additional outfits are included in each girl’s shop, and third fashions may be included as well, though it is unclear at the moment. Regardless, this line is definitely one to watch for!

L-R: Jade, Yasmin, Cloe, and Sasha. Ignore the “Sasha not included” text, that’s just a distribution thing! Keep in mind that these are prototypes too 😉

Another biggie for this fall is a hairplay line called Style Starz. This line is special because for the first time ever, the Bratz will be rockin’ interchangeable wigs! While no full photos have been released as of yet, toy fair reports say the line’s general look is “very Lady GaGa”, which is great in our book!

And on the topic of hairplay lines, Crystalicious will be following the example set by Featherageous with a quirky name and floor-length saran hair! This line will feature the core four in chic and shimmery party dresses adorned with sparkly flowers and ruffles. The hairplay gimmick is that each doll includes fun crystals to add to your dolls’ hair – and your’s too!

Here’s the group promo for Crystalicious (L-R: Sasha, Cloe, Jade, and Yasmin) as well as three individual photos of Cloe, Yasmin, and Jade!

Another trademark for the Bratz are their sleepwear lines, and this fall we’ll see a new line called Satin Sleepover. At the moment, literally nothing is known of this line other than its name, but based on that, we’re expecting something along the lines of a Nighty-Nite 3.0! If that truly is the case, then we’re beyond excited!

One of the more extensive lines for this fall is called Chic Mystique. Like last year’s Masquerade line, this will be a costume party-themed line, only way more over the top! This line stars the core four in stunning ball gowns and masks – with a twist! At the pull of a lever, their gowns lift up to reveal gorgeous wings and a funky party outfit! Also worth noting is the absolutely brilliant new shoe mold this line debuts, as well as the return of wild hair colors for the Bratz. According to Toy Fair photos, this line will also have an accompanying line of Funky Fashion Makeover styling heads.

This is the group promo for the Chic Mystique, L-R: Cloe, Sasha, Jade, and Yasmin!

Also upcoming from the Bratz is a new spin-off line called Bratzillaz. The Bratzillaz are a group of teenaged witches whose pets each possess a special power unique to them! This line is going to be a major brand for MGA this fall, with a line of dolls, sold-separately pets, fashion packs, accessory packs, and even a web series! So far we have the names of two of the Bratzillaz girls – Cloetta and Sashabella. These names have us wondering if the line will tie into the main Bratz plot somehow…? Time will tell!

These are the four Bratzillaz dolls. We’re not sure who is who at the moment, but they’re all super cute!

Here’s a shot of the Bratzillaz display at Australia’s Toy Fair this past February! Photo taken by Timmy AKA Araparap

Well Bratz fans, that’s the scoop for now! Keep checkin’ back for more!

Stay tuned & stay stylin’!
